My Love To Admire.

So I was in the city on Monday, bumming around, not doing to much of anything and ended up at big-box Chapters, where I picked up the August edition of Spin, with Interpol looking stern and stylish on the front cover. After some of the articles I've read, that have been less than kind to Paul Banks in particular (actually colouring my opinion of him a bit I must admit), this one was refreshingly neutral in tone and actually seemed to provide genuine insight into the band, as well as a humorous straight-faced running commentary on the state of Carlos D.

I've been listening to their latest album for the last few weeks and while I didn't even get through it the first time, I'm now up to about three listens a day. It has me hooked and I love it. While I started off with faint praise ("...it's good, but it's their third best album..."), I now can't put it down. Where song titles like 'No I in Threesome' once irritated me, they now have me singing along in mock seriousness.

There's a lot more to listen to, with this album. A much fuller and more interesting sound and I can say with absolute certainty that Antics has absolutely nothing on this album. I won't dare to compare it to 'Bright Lights', until a bit more time has gone by.

Anyway, if you haven't listened to it yet, go ahead. It's now up on the FTP, along with a few other albums that have been getting it done.
